Keep doing things that scare you (Picture Taipei Story)

Lantern Festival

Last month, I did something scary. I took a chance on myself and leaped before I was ready. I felt the fear and let it ride with me across the ocean to Taipei, Taiwan, where I starred in a film for the first time.

I was nervous not only because it was my first time in a leading on-screen role, but more so because I didn't want to let my teammates down. I watched my production team work so hard to put this film project together over many months, and I just knew that I had to give it my all.

Still, the fear that I wasn't good enough lurked on my shoulder throughout the entire trip. Hell yeah, I was scared. And I couldn't ignore it. But instead of letting my fear get the best of me; instead of shying away from the part, I knew that I could only do one thing: step up and do it anyway.

It wasn't comfortable at all, but I learned to be confident even when I was scared. Fear doesn't leave. Bravery is not the same thing as fearlessness. Bravery means that you may feel the fear, but you still act in spite of that fear.

The end result: I had the most magical, memorable time of my life. I challenged myself in a way that brought me to life. I danced on the edge of my comfort zone, and stretched myself closer to the person I want to become. I met so many talented, amazing new friends. In short, I had an absolute blast

Today, I want to share more of this story with you all, along with clips from my experience in Taipei. You can watch the video below:

Now, I hope that you continue to do things that scare you. Don't wait until you're “ready” – just feel the fear, and then do it anyway!
